Just a few hours ago came the launch of iCloud, the bet of the Apple cloud computing. Of all our digital life, and as such, channelling service encompasses a multitude of services relating to our files: music, documents, photographs, etc.
Many of us are sure that we have been pondering the implications that this product will have in the way we use existing ones. We must probably be users of Dropbox or Spotify. They will suffer from these two services, one musical and one storage in the cloud, iCloud as a result? It may be, remember that one of the iCloud applications is called iTunes cloud, i.e. our personal music library placed on Apples servers for our enjoyment through any device.
Another application is iCloud Storage, a function that stores all documents created using APIs iCloud Storage, and it automatically does push them towards all our devices. Speaking of APIs is shown that it is not an exclusive use in the enterprise apps, but on third-party apps, because developers will be authorized to use this system to manage their own documents.
Then, do we leave to use Dropbox and Spotify? Honestly, I think that it wont. On the contrary, both products will grow in use. On the one hand Dropbox does not put constraints to the type of document used or if the application has already implemented the API or not. For now, with iCloud Storage available documents are who manages Pages, Numbers and Keynote, that is to say, a small percentage of our digital lives, where are the PDFs or our old files in .doc format?
There is also time to talk about spotify. While the Apple model is sound and very attractive, there is something contrary to what can not fight: the user does not want to buy songs, wants to have at its disposal all the possible topics to listen to what most pleases without need to establish a priority of purchase, or a time for deciding what titles will acquire property or what can be expected. Not already accustomed, through these streaming services, to find on P2P networks to download songs at local, Spotify is above all that and I personally think continue using it until now.
The truth and truth is that both Dropbox and Spotify may suffer an increase in their use and number of users. The reason? The loss of fear. Apple will come to a good percentage of people who until now did not know or do not trust in the cloud computing. Once they adjust and check their benefits, will be more open to experiment with other proposals, both to save documents as listening to music, and there will be Dropbox and Spotify (or similar services) to fill more than their expectations.
